What is the walking route from SoHo?
From the cast-iron blocks around West Broadway, walk west on Spring Street to Sixth Avenue, cut north on Bedford or Hudson Street, and turn west on Christopher Street to the water. From the Broadway side of SoHo, add five to seven minutes.
Prince Street works as well: take it west until it becomes Charlton Street, then head north on Greenwich Street.
Can you combine the trip with a SoHo shopping day?
Plenty of people do. Place your order on the West Village menu while you shop on Greene or Mercer Street, then walk over when you are done. The store is open until 10pm on weeknights and 11pm on Friday and Saturday, so late shopping days still fit.
Why not take the subway?
From most of SoHo there is no single train that lands closer than the walk. If your feet are done, the C or E from Spring Street goes uptown, but you would still walk from the West 4th or 14th Street area, so most people simply walk or take a short cab west.
