What is the walk from the Sixth Avenue exit?
Come up on Sixth Avenue at West 4th Street, by the basketball courts known as The Cage. Walk west on West 4th Street to Sheridan Square, continue onto Christopher Street, and follow it to West Street. The walk crosses Seventh Avenue South, Bleecker Street and Hudson Street before reaching the river.
Which lines make this the best stop for you?
If you are coming from Brooklyn on the A, C, F or the B and D, or from Queens on the E, F or M, West 4th Street saves a transfer to the 1. From Upper Manhattan's west side or Penn Station, the A, C and E stop here too. If you are already on the 1, stay on to Christopher Street instead.
Can you shop on the way?
The walk runs straight through the Village, so it is easy to place your order on the West Village menu while you are still on the train and pick it up when you arrive. The store closes at 10pm Sunday through Thursday and 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
